Dinki Friends... Meet Erin AKA Boss Lady Of Too Many PJs

dinki human blog q+a series with erin plant too many pjs

I love chatting to fellow small-biz owners about what gets them going and what grinds their gears about being your own boss. I have created a series of Q&As with some of my fave small brand owners in the hope we can share some behind the scenes insight into our lives as women in business.

I have admired Too Many PJs gorgeous products for years, Erin's retro aesthetic and eco-conscious designs make the perfect addition to any nursery or play room. I want everything!

Who are ya?

I'm Erin, 37 year old mum of 2 (soon to be 3). I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA in the USA. Have been living in the UK for 15 years and recently settled in Brighton with my family.

How and when did you come up with the idea for Too Many PJs?

I worked as a fahion textile designer for a decade and had hoarded a lot of fabrics in that time. When my first baby was born, I made a patchwork play mat for him with scraps of the fabrics I had collected. I wanted something 'cool' looking but that would also provide Sensory stimulation. The mat was most popular at baby groups and people suggested I start selling them, so I did! That was 6 years ago in East London.

What things do you enjoy most in your job as Too Many PJs Boss Lady?

Designing prints (I still love textile design), problem solving, and knowing that my products are making babies and parents happy around the world!

What things do you enjoy least?

Admin, emails, and taxes

Any advice for anyone starting out in the world of small biz ownership?

Don't get frustrated if things take longer than you think they will. Perseverance is key!

What are your hopes and dreams for the future of Too Many PJs? Where do you see yourself in 3 years time?

I have  plans for some epic collaborations in the pipeline. So those, but also product expansion. I want to eventually make more products for adults as well as babies and children, but still focusing on the needs of families.

What’s your favourite breakfast?

For everyday,  Cinnamon Raisin Bagels. For a special treat, French toast with Streaky Bacon. But honestly I like breakfast a lot, so I could pretty much eat breakfast for every meal.

Where can we find you?

You can find me online @toomanypjs on Instagram and Facebook. www.toomanypjs.com,  as well as Not on the High Street and Etsy. And soon you can find Too Many Pjs in the Pop Up Club shop in Brighton for 6 weeks this summer!
